Asbestos Roof Removal and Roof Replacement

A local farmer contacted the team at Crocker Cladding in need of a roof removal and replacement.

The roof on one of their outbuildings was old and worse for wear, so they decided it was time to invest in a new roof.

The Project Outline

The old roof was filled with asbestos, so they needed a specialist removal company licensed to deal with the hazardous material.

The team were tasked with safely removing the roof and disposing of it before installing a new one with roof lights.

We also replaced trimline gutters and perimeter flashings.

What We Did

As with any job, this project started with a couple of site visits to assess the current roof and the work needed.

Once we had discussed the scope of work and price with the farmer, we were able to book a date for delivery of materials and installation.

Upon arrival at the site, we erected scaffolding platforms, handrails and safety nets on the underside of the roof for our staff's safety while working.

With all that in place, we set about taking the existing asbestos-filled roof down.

The waste material was placed into an enclosed skip, and the handling was dealt with in line with all health and safety guidelines.

Now the roof was completely removed and the enclosed skip taken away, we were able to deliver materials for the new roof, guttering and flashings.

These included:

• Kingspan 120mm thick insulated roof panel
• Roof lights
• Verges
• Ridge flashings

We got to work installing the new materials, first putting the roof panels in place (which come with a 20-year guarantee) and then fitting the roof lights in place to suit the client’s internal layout.

With the new roof installed, we finished by adding the guttering, downpipe and flashings. Our team worked efficiently and completed the whole project in a week.

The End Result

The result of our work is a new, smart roof that means the farmer doesn’t need to worry about asbestos contamination in the building.
