Insulated Roof Installation at Harbour View Crematorium, Lytchett, Dorset
Project Outline
Harbour View Crematorium in Lytchett, Dorset, required a complete commercial roofing solution that would deliver long-term weather protection, improved thermal performance, and reliable rainwater management for a public-facing building. The client needed a high-quality installation carried out to the highest standard, with minimal disruption throughout.
This project called for a specialist approach. A crematorium serves its community at some of its most sensitive moments, which made a smooth, professional, and efficient installation all the more important.
The Crocker Cladding team was appointed to design and deliver a comprehensive roofing solution, covering 360m² of insulated roof panel installation, a high-performance single ply membrane finish, and fully integrated perimeter guttering.
What We Did
We began with the supply and installation of a Kingspan Topdek insulated roof panel system across the full 360m² roof area. The Kingspan Topdek system is widely regarded as one of the most reliable flat roofing solutions available, offering excellent thermal performance and structural integrity. By choosing this system, we were able to deliver a roof that not only meets current building regulations but will continue to perform for decades to come, reducing energy costs and maintenance demands for the client.
Once the panel system was in place, we applied a high-performance single ply membrane to the roof surface. Single ply membrane roofing provides exceptional weather resistance and UV protection, forming an impermeable barrier against the elements. Its flexibility makes it particularly well-suited to flat and low-slope commercial roofing applications, and when installed correctly, it offers outstanding durability with minimal ongoing maintenance required.
To complete the installation, we fitted new perimeter guttering around the building. Effective rainwater management is a critical element of any commercial roofing project, and the new guttering system ensures that water is channelled away from the structure efficiently, protecting both the roof and the building fabric below. Every detail was handled by our team from start to finish, ensuring a seamless result across all elements of the works.
Phase 2 works to the lower balconies are now scheduled to commence, continuing our involvement in improving and protecting this important community facility.
The Result
The completed installation has given Harbour View Crematorium a fully weatherproof, thermally efficient roof that will serve the building and its community reliably for years ahead. The Kingspan Topdek panel system combined with the single ply membrane finish delivers a robust, low-maintenance solution that meets all relevant building standards and provides exceptional long-term value.
From a practical standpoint, the improved insulation will help reduce energy consumption across the building, while the integrated guttering system ensures effective drainage whatever the weather. The project was completed efficiently and professionally, with the care and respect that a sensitive public venue of this nature demands.
