Commercial Cladding Refurbishment for Wessex Water
Project Outline
Wessex Water in Bournemouth required a full envelope refurbishment of one of their commercial facilities. The existing building presented dated cladding and glazing that no longer reflected the standards of a modern operational site, and the brief called for a solution that would improve both the building's appearance and its energy performance.
The scope covered the removal of the old cladding and its replacement with a new profiled metal cladding system, complemented by anthracite-finished flashings and windows throughout. The objective was a cohesive, professional finish that would bring the building in line with current expectations for a commercial facility of this type.
What We Did
Work began with the careful removal of the existing cladding. With the substrate prepared, we installed the new profiled metal cladding system across the building envelope, running vertical profiles that give the façade a clean, contemporary appearance.
Throughout the project, consistency of finish was a priority. Anthracite-coloured powder-coated aluminium flashings were installed at all junctions, edges, and window surrounds, creating a sharp, uniform look across the full elevation. The anthracite window frames were selected to complement the cladding palette directly, ensuring the finished building read as a single, considered design rather than a series of separate upgrades.
Our powder-coated aluminium flashings are formed to measure and finished to order, which meant every detail on this project was tailored to the building rather than adapted from a standard solution. That level of precision is what keeps junctions weathertight and gives the overall finish its quality.
The Result
The transformation is a strong illustration of what a well-specified refurbishment can achieve. Where the building previously presented a tired, inconsistent exterior, it now has a clean, professional envelope that suits the operational nature of the site.
The new profiled metal commercial cladding delivers improved thermal performance over the original system, contributing to the energy efficiency of the facility going forward. The anthracite flashings and window frames tie the elevation together, and the overall finish requires minimal ongoing maintenance.
The project was completed to programme, with the finished result meeting Wessex Water's requirements for both performance and appearance.
