Roof and Cladding Installation for an Indoor Padel and Tennis Facility in Dorset

Project Outline

A new indoor padel and tennis facility near Shaftesbury in north Dorset required a complete roof and wall cladding package to enclose a large steel-framed building from the ground up. The structure featured a distinctive curved, barrel-vault roof profile, presenting a cladding challenge that demanded precision workmanship and material choices suited to a long-span, high-specification sports facility.

The brief called for a durable, weather-tight envelope that would protect the building fabric, support the internal environment needed for year-round court use, and deliver a clean, professional finish both inside and out.

What We Did

Our team delivered a full building envelope package, covering the roof, walls, and internal lining throughout.

On the exterior, we installed profiled metal cladding across the curved roof and straight wall sections, working to the building's arched geometry. The dark green finish was specified to complement the rural Dorset setting, and every panel was fitted to the tolerances required for a watertight result over the long term. Rainwater management was integrated from the outset, with guttering and downpipes positioned to handle roof run-off efficiently.

Internally, we installed white liner panels across the wall sections of the facility, providing a clean, bright finish appropriate for a commercial sports environment. The liner panels work in conjunction with the external skin to form a complete wall build-up, contributing to thermal performance and giving the finished interior the professional appearance the client required.

The work was carried out to programme, coordinating closely with the wider construction team to ensure cladding works progressed in sequence with the structural and fit-out trades operating on site at the same time.

The Result

The completed facility is a purpose-built indoor sports venue housing multiple padel courts alongside a full-size tennis court, all within a fully enclosed and weatherproofed building. The exterior presents a smart, considered finish that sits well within its north Dorset surroundings, while the interior lining delivers the bright, clean environment that any commercial sports facility requires.

The building envelope is performing as specified: weather-tight, thermally efficient, and built to last. The client now has a facility ready for year-round use, with a cladding package that required no remedial work following completion and was handed over on schedule.
