Stourton Caundle Village Hall Refurbishment
Stourton Caundle Village Hall needed comprehensive building services to transform an ageing community facility into a modern, energy-efficient space. Crocker Cladding delivered end-to-end project management, coordinating asbestos removal, complete roof replacement, and interior fit-out works. The result? A revitalised village hall that will serve the local community for decades to come.
Project Outline
This commercial roof refurbishment project in Sturminster Newton required careful planning and expert execution. The village hall's existing roofs contained asbestos sheeting that needed safe removal and disposal before any building services work could begin.
Our team coordinated every aspect of the project, from initial asbestos surveys through to the final interior fit-out. We supplied and installed new insulated composite panel roofing across two roof sections, complete with perimeter flashings. Throughout the works, we maintained clear communication with the client, ensuring building services in Dorset were delivered on time and to the highest standards.
What We Did
Our building services team began with the safe removal and disposal of all existing asbestos sheets from both roofs, working to strict HSE guidelines. Once the site was clear, we carried out insulated composite panel roofing installation. The 120mm roofing we added will provide superior thermal performance and weather protection.
The new roof system included all perimeter flashings, ensuring complete waterproofing. We coordinated the installation of 24 solar panels, managing specialist subcontractors as part of our comprehensive project management approach. Inside the hall, our team completed full fit-out works, transforming the interior space.
One typical challenge on projects like this is maintaining weatherproofing during the transition period between old and new roofing. Our experienced team used temporary coverings and worked efficiently to minimise exposure.
Another consideration was coordinating asbestos removal with minimal disruption to the surrounding area, which we achieved through careful planning and adherence to safety protocols.

The End Result
The completed project delivered a completely transformed village hall. The new insulated composite panel roof provides excellent thermal efficiency, reducing heating costs and improving comfort for hall users. Safe asbestos removal eliminated health risks, while the modern roofing system ensures the building is protected for years to come.
The commercial roof refurbishment has extended the hall's lifespan significantly, and the interior fit-out created a fresh, contemporary space for community activities. Our client was delighted with the comprehensive service and professional approach throughout.
By managing every element of the project, from asbestos removal through to final finishes, we delivered a seamless experience and outstanding results that showcase our full building services capabilities.
